IT has been quite a start to 2020 for Tynedale Rugby Club’s junior section.
For the second time in as many weeks, the club has been well represented at county level.
No fewer than 13 girls from the Corbridge-based club turned out for Northumberland against neighbouring counties, Cumbria and Durham.
They took part in both 15-a-side and XRugby7s matches, with highlights including a 33-0 win over Cumbria, and a 17-5 defeat of Durham.
The county event, which took place at Billingham, follows a highly successful day at Kingston Park, the home of Newcastle Falcons, when Tynedale players were prominent in the Northumberland squad at both U15 and U19 level.
l Tynedale Panthers U15 and U18 teams will contest their respective finals in the North of England National Cup, on Sunday.
Both girls’ teams will travel to Yarnbury in Yorkshire, where the U15s will take on Wakefield outfit Sandal, and the U18s will face West Park of St Helens.
