RAMPANT Prudhoe YC Seniors continued their explosive league form with a demolition job against FC United of Newcastle.
The 5-0 away victory saw the red and blacks tighten their grip on second position in Northern Alliance Division One.
And they demonstrated their promotion credentials with an emphatic performance, which boosted their already impressive goalscoring tally.
Arron Fletcher bagged a hat-trick for Prudhoe, which earned him the man of the match award.
Sam Dibb-Fuller and Matty Robinson also registered for the Seniors in a win which keeps them hot on the heels of league leaders Hebburn Town U23.
“This was a very good result,” said Prudhoe YC Seniors’ club secretary Duncan Graham. “It consolidates second place, and we still have almost half of our league games to play.
“Of the league fixtures which lie ahead, eight of them are away from home, so we have a lot of hard work to do between now and the end of the season.
“We have to keep focused and try to keep getting wins on the board.”
Prudhoe are the second highest scorers in Division One, with 55 goals from 16 matches. They also have two games in hand over table-topping Hebburn.
They have scored 12 goals in their last two league matches, after defeating Felling Magpies 7-1 on February 1.
Next up for Prudhoe is a home match against Wallsend Boys Club, on Saturday, in another Division One encounter. Kick off at Kimberly Park is at 2.30pm.
