HEXHAM’s Tom Craney has been named in a Northern Alliance top six list for top performing goalkeepers.

The stopper is fifth in the Division One Golden Gloves top six for his recent performances between the sticks.

Craney has conceded 19 goals in his last 10 matches for Hexham, with an average of 1.90 goals conceded per game.

Only four goalkeepers have better records than the 21-year-old, but they have all played more games.

Top of the list is Kieran Hunter, of Hebburn Town U23, with an average of 1.07, having conceded 15 goals in 14 games.

Bradley Skirpan, of Blyth Spartans Reserves, is second, with an average of 1.36, having conceded 15 goals in 11 matches.

Whitburn & Cleadon’s Andrew Cunningham is third with an average of 1.64, with a record of 18 conceded in 11 games. Fourth is John Charlton, of Red Row Welfare, who has shipped 20 goals in 12 games, giving him an average of 1.67.

Meanwhile, in-form midfielder Peter McRoberts has departed Hexham to join Northern Alliance premier Division side, Seaton Delaval.

McRoberts’ final appearance in a Hexham shirt came in the 2-1 victory over local rivals Prudhoe YC Seniors in the quarter-finals of the Northumberland Senior Cup, on Saturday, February 8.

Despite missing a penalty against Red Row Welfare at the beginning of the month, McRoberts responded with two assists in the win against Prudhoe.

McRoberts is not the only player from the district’s teams to have joined Seaton Delaval in recent weeks.

Former Wallington man Josh Willis has also moved to the North Northumbrian club.
