CUMBRIAN rally driver Frank Bird continued his outstanding form with a superb victory at the TJS Self Drive Alan Healy Memorial Rally at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
And in doing so, the Penrith-born star and his co-driver Jack Morton, of Hexham, completed their fourth successive victory on the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship.
The pair finished second in the corresponding event last season, in what was Frank’s third ever event.
But his prowess since then means the latest victory follows on from successes at the Knockhill Stages and Christmas Stages events in December, and also the MGJ Engineering Brands Hatch Winter Stages, in January.
Frank said: “Overall, we had a really good day at Cadwell Park, and I’m delighted to get another win.
“The morning race was a bit tricky with wet conditions and a stall on a hairpin cost us some time early on, but once we got over that, it went great. We had a mega afternoon just chipping away to win by over a minute. The car was as brilliant as ever.”
Frank (20) paid tribute to the role played by his co-driver for his navigation skills, as well as other key members of his team.
He added: “Thanks to Jack for another great job on the maps, and the team for keeping the car sweet and, of course, my dad and all our sponsors. That’s four wins in a row now so I’m really looking forward to continuing the run at the next round.”
