Two goals from Daniel Troughton earned a vital three points for Ponteland United Reserves.
The Black and Whites won 2-1 away to North Sunderland in the Northern Alliance Premier Division. James Hepple was named man of the match.
After beginning 2020 with a 4-2 reverse at Swalwell on January 4, Kennie Malia’s side have now won four league games on the bounce, scoring 15 goals and conceding just twice.
Malia described the latest performance as a “great away win” against a top five side.
Ponteland will travel to 13th placed Lowick on Saturday, and will be keen to further their position at the top of the league.
United are 18 points clear at the summit of the Development Division, but it’s not quite so clear cut.
For second placed West Jesmond have no fewer than seven games in hand, while third placed Morpeth, who are 20 points behind Ponteland, have six games in hand.
