BARDON Mill Bowes Lyons moved nine points clear at the top of Hexham and District Sunday League as they aim to keep hold of the title they won last year.

Man of the match Rob Hayes was on song as his hat-trick helped Mill to a 5-2 victory at Heddon St Andrew’s, with substitutes James Johnston and Dan Parker adding their names to the scoresheet.

Daniel Walker and Will Hedley netted for Heddon, who were best served by Rob Howorth.

Goals from Ste Forster, Martin Nugent and Kieran Russel, and a man of the match display from Andy Sagar, saw Prudhoe Town defeat Mickley Social Club 3-1. Mickley’s star man James Curry was credited with their consolation.

Wark moved to within a point of top spot in Division Two as a double from Liam Anderson saw them edge bottom club Stamfordham United, who had Karl Hunter on target.

Jake Thompson starred for Wark and Joe Downs for Stamfordham.

The honours were shared when Hexhamshire and Ryton met, Robbie Pattison’s goal for Shire cancelled out by a goal from Liam Goodwin. Joe Shepherd impressed for the hosts, with Michael Oliver starring for Ryton.

A double from man of the match Jordan Phillips and strikes from Sam Mannion, Sam Beedle, Nathan Moore, Luke Masters and Corey Mclauchlan earned Wylam Black Bull a 7-0 victory over Hexham Hearts, who had Ryan Morris starring.
