MOST football teams start the new year dreaming of winning honours at the end of the season.
But for a team of youngsters from Hexham, that dream became reality just five days into 2020.
Hexham Santos received medals after winning the North of England U8 Christmas Cup, which took place at Cochrane Park, in Newcastle, on January 5.
They played six games in total and defeated some much-fancied teams along the way, including Wallsend Boys Club and Benfield.
Santos also remained undefeated throughout the day, and were worthy champions.
A key part of Hexham Football Club, the team competes in the Tynedale Mini Soccer League on Saturdays, playing a year above their age group at U9 level.
They are also in the top division of the Northumberland Football League on Sundays.
