YOUNG cricketers from Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School have ended 2019 on a high.

They won the Chance to Compete U15 county final after getting the better of other school teams from across the North-East in the tournament, at Hexham’s Wentworth Leisure Centre.

The victory also saw QEHS lift the title for the fifth time in six years.

QEHS topped their group after three wins, against both John Spence, and George Stephenson high schools from North Tyneside, and Ponteland High School.

The Hexham students then defeated John Spence in the semi-finals, before securing a 47-run victory in the final against Ponteland.

All nine players involved played their part in QEHS being crowned champions, before captain Jake Robson picked up the trophy.
