THE summer may seem like a distant memory, but members of Tynedale Tennis Club have been celebrating the success of a memorable season.

The club, which is based at Prior’s Flat in Hexham, hosted its annual end of season presentation and social event.

The pre-Christmas gathering enabled players to bring along their family and friends for an evening where individual and team achievements were recognised.

Those presented with medals included ladies’ singles champion Rachel Salthouse, and men’s champion Paul Gabbey.

The summer season was relived while those present tucked into tasty refreshments, and also took part in a challenging quiz set by past chairman George Miller.

Tynedale Tennis Club is a thriving organisaton, with players ranging from juniors to over 70s.

Vice chairwoman Mary Oliver said: “We had over 40 entrants ranging in age from 14 to 75, which is a great testament to the game of tennis.”
