PRUDHOE Town progressed to the quarter-finals of the Presidents Cup as they saw off the threat of Hexham and District Sunday League Division Two leaders Crawcrook Social Club.

With man of the match Josh Mottram scoring twice and Matty Robinson and Brad Rogers both netting, Division One side Town raced into a four goal lead. An own goal and strike from Sam Calkin reduced the arrears, but it was too little, too late for a Crawcrook side best served by Brennan Turner.

In the only other game in the league to beat the weather, Wark took the opportunity to go second in Division Two by thumping Hexham Hearts 8-0. Star man Liam Anderson helped himself to a hat-trick, while Andy Hall hit a double. Nick MacNeil, Jonny Herdman and Alex Wright also added their names on the scoresheet.

In junior football, Ponteland United Munich were reduced to 10 men through illness and they faced a trip to top flight Great Park in the U15 Northumberland FA Cup. However, a heroic performance saw them lead 2-1 right up until injury time through a Joseph Nicholson double until a last gasp equaliser took the game to extra time, with Great Park keeping the momentum and going on to win 4-2.

Ponteland U13 Dynamos Girls returned to winning ways with a comfortable win over Wallsend BC. Lily Bell scored four times, Rebecca Nicholson twice and Lucy Milburn and Izzy Robson once each. Georgina Pringle was named girl of the game.
