TYNEDALE’S leading golfer added to his prize haul for the season as he made the trip to South Africa for the latest round of the European Tour.

Chris Paisley, who grew up playing his golf as a junior at Stocksfield, finished tied 44th as he contested the Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted by golfing icon Gary Player.

After impressing with a fifth placed finish in the Portugal Masters in October, Paisley has struggled to match the heights with tied 62nd in the Turkish Airlines Open sandwiched between.

Over in South Africa, Paisley started with a three over par opening round of 75 but improved slightly with a second round score of 74.

He made par in the third round and jumped up the leaderboard by again making par in the fourth and final round of play.

His final total of +5 saw him tied 44th with fellow Englishman Matt Wallace, Scot Scott Jamieson and Alex Noren, of Sweden.

They were 17 shots off tournament champion Tommy Fleetwood.

As a result of his performance, Paisley came away with 25,000 euros to add to his season’s total. He dropped six places to 73rd in the overall Race to Dubai rankings.

While Paisley continues to make this mark on the tour, his crowning moment remains his only tour title won in the 2018 BMW South Africa Open Championship.
