OLD rivals are dusting off their football boots as they prepare to go head-to-head.

The towns of Hexham and Prudhoe will do battle on the football pitch on Sunday afternoon, with players aged 35 or over representing the respective towns.

The game, which will be played at Prudhoe Town’s Kimberly Park stadium with a 3pm kick off, has been organised by former footballers across the district for a fun, yet competitive, match-up.

The teams are largely made up of players no longer donning their boots on a regular basis, however, a handful of players still turn out for Sunday League teams. The Prudhoe team has been pulled together by former Stocksfield midfielder Bruce Vause, with ex-Wark and Hexham Ex-Service Club man Stephen Donnison assembling the Hexham squad.
