CHRIS Paisley continued his hot streak with a top five place at the Portugal Masters.

The Stocksfield golfer shot a superb final round of 64 to secure fifth place. Paisley’s four-round total of 14 under par saw him finish just three strokes behind tournament winner, fellow Englishman Steven Brown.

Paisley carried his consistent form from the previous week’s French Open, when he finished eighth.

But this time he was even more impressive, carding four successive sub-70 rounds. He improved on his opening two scores of 69 with a 68, before his superb seven-under par showing on the final day. Paisley dropped just six shots to par all week, and was blemish free from the sixth hole on round three onwards.

The former Stocksfield junior, who is now ranked 186th in the world, said his game was good throughout the tournament, was delighted to see it come together in style on Sunday.

World number 550 Brown shot a final round 66 to win his maiden European Tour title. He finished a stroke clear of the overnight leader Brandon Stone, who settled for third place, behind Justin Walters.

Lee Westwood, who represents Heddon-on-the-Wall club Close House as its touring pro, finished on one-under part in Portugal, after a closing round of 70.
