A TEAM of young golfers will fly the flag for the district at a prestigious national final this weekend.
The Hexham Golf Club members will compete in the Junior Team Golf National Final, at Mannings Heath in West Sussex, on Sunday.
The squad of 10 players, with an average age of below 15, have excelled in the U18 competition this year.
They won a regional quarter-final at Carlisle, before succeeding at the semi-finals stage, at Lancaster, to set up an exciting place in the final. Three of Hexham’s key players, who excelled at Lancaster, will be unavailable on Sunday. It means all team members will be aged 14 or below.
Success in the national final will earn them a place in a home international event, involving teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, in Portugal, next February.
