A SAM Walton goal wasn’t enough for Wallington as the Scots Gap side crashed out of the Northumberland FA Les Todd Senior Benevolent Bowl.

The Greens lost 2-1 at home to fellow Northern Alliance Premier Division side AFC Killingworth in the first round of the competition. Lewis Bateman was man of the match.

Wallington are on the road again on Saturday. They will travel to Alnwick Town in the Team Valley Carpets Challenge Cup.

A glut of cup fixtures has meant Wallington have not played in the league since September 7.

Ponteland United Reserves were 4-1 winners at home to Red House Farm in the Northern Alliance Premier Division.

They scored three goals in the opening 10 minutes, and were 3-0 up by half time.

The visitors responded early in the second half, but Ponteland’s man of the match Sean McDonald completed his hat-trick to round off the scoring.

Pont’s other scorer was Daniel Troughton. The reserves travel to Heaton Stannington A in the Team Valley Carpets Neville Cowey Cup, on Saturday.
