Wylam Rockettes U13 Eagles played their best match of the season so far on Saturday.

The girls looked the part in their new kits, as they welcomed Alnwick to their home ground. Starting more confidently than in recent matches, the Eagles were soon in the lead.

Despite some excellent saves from the Alnwick goalkeeper, the Eagles had scored six by half time. Alnwick battled on and managed to score a consolation goal in the second half, but the Eagles extended their lead, with Evie Dando scoring six, Millie Armstrong three, and Emma Thomas and Rosie Pigg scoring one each. Amy Goodwin was awarded girl of the game for her determined efforts on the right wing.

Wylam Rockettes U13 Falcons were 3-1 victors at Whitley Bay SC. The match started quickly with Whitley Bay dominating the first few minutes, but it wasn’t long before Ruby Roberts scored an outstanding goal from a free kick.

Wylam continued to battle against the pressure and Iona Irons scored her first goal of the match.

Despite the Falcons not having their regular goalkeeper, superb keeping from Isla, Eve and Shinead ensured Whitley Bay only scored one goal in the second half, with the help of a solid defence. Iona scored her second goal late on.

Wylam Rockettes U12 got back to winning ways after a setback the previous week against Newcastle East End as they enjoyed a thumping victory over North Shields.

Some excellent interplay and good close finishing enabled the Wylam girls to take control of the game early on and enjoy a comfortable morning.

A buoyant Wylam Rockettes Women ran out convincing 13-2 winners in their home match against Newcastle University in the Pin Point Women’s League.

Emma Boaden and Abby Brown both scored four, while Molly Hails, Charlotte Murray, Lucy Rankin, Amy Little and Annie Spragg also registered.
