THERE was a treat in store for Tynedale Hockey Club’s juniors when England and Great Britain star Tess Howard turned out to showcase her skills.
The 20-year-old international player, who based in the North East due to her studies at Durham University, met the club’s young members and spent time with them on the pitch.
Despite a broken hand, sustained during the recent Euro Championships, she provided coaching and spoke enthusiastically about the sport.
She also presented certificates to the club’s U12 hockey team which qualified for the North of England In2Hockey Championships earlier this year.
The Hexham-based club meets on the artificial surface at the town’s Queen Elizabeth High School.
The club’s Maggie Coombe said new players were always welcome.
