MAINTAINING their unbeaten start to the campaign, Haltwhistle Railway inflicted a first defeat of the season on early Division One pacesetters Crawcrook Fox and Hounds.

A late winner from Jack Barker sealed the narrow 4-3 victory for Halty, adding to his earlier strike plus goals from Andrew Wrightson and Greg Irwin. Aaron Davidson was named man of the match.

The division’s leading scorer Lee Peacock scored twice and Alex Skelton the other as Crawcrook battled back from 3-1 down, but they ended up without a point despite the best efforts of man of the match Ben Coulson.

A hat-trick from Dale Dodds helped Riding Mill edge out Walker The Fosse in a nine-goal thriller in the Northumberland FA Sunday Minor Cup.

Paul Britten and Luke Banks also netted in the 5-4 victory, while goalkeeper Jack Walker more than played his part in a man of the match display.

Wark also progressed in the competition as goals from Liam Anderson and Jake Thompson saw them edge out visitors Wallsend Rising Sun Comrades 2-1. Ryan Potts was named star man.
