HALTWHISTLE Jubilee averaged a goal almost every five minutes as they ran out 17-0 winners against Morpeth Town Reserves.

The Jubes put on a scintillating performance against Morpeth Town Reserves to progress into the second round of the Northern Alliance Reeves Independent George Dobbins League Cup.

Haltwhistle were favourites going into the game, playing at home against a side a division below them in the Northern Alliance.

But even after Morpeth went down to 10-men early in the game, none of the spectators at the Burn would have expected such a rampant performance from the Division One side.

On-form striker Kieran Robley struck five, continuing his goalscoring start to the season.

There were braces for Jack Currah, Paul Wilson, James Charteries, and Jack Barker, and one goal each for Jordan Armstrong, Callum James, Mark Robson, and Norman Calvert, who came off the bench to round-off the scoring.

Haltwhistle are in cup action again on Saturday, when they will host Blyth FC in the Team Valley Carpets Amateur Cup.

The Jubes will be keen to build on an impressive start to the season, which has seen them win six of their opening seven league games.

Kick off at the Burn is 2pm.
