PRUDHOE YC Seniors have notched 20 goals in their opening seven league fixtures, and the Seniors will be looking to add to their tally when they travel to Seaton Burn on Saturday, in another league fixture.

Club secretary Duncan Graham praised the way the side came back from three goals down, to defeat FC United of Newcastle 4-3 at Kimberly Park, before defeating Whitburn & Cleadon by the odd goal in five.

He explained: “We’ve scored a lot of good goals, but the exciting thing is we could have scored more. We have the ability to become more clinical.

“It was a satisfying win over Whitburn & Cleadon. The match was played in windy conditions and it was scrappy at times.

They are a good side so to win there is a big positive. They were also up there at the top end of the league having won most of their games so far.”

Graham praised the character of Prudhoe’s players in the seven-goal thriller against FC United.

“We never give up and that was evident, and it was a comeback which will live long in the memory. Danny’s long throws are an asset which we have used, but you still need the quality to put the ball in the net.”
