There was cup final disappointment for Allendale Cricket Club during their debut season in the Northumberland and Tyneside League.
After defeating Civil Service in the semi-finals of the William Birkett Memorial Cup, Allendale took on Whickham in the final, which was held at Corbridge.
Whickham batted first in the 20-over game, and finished on 119-7. Allendale skipper Tim Raglan took 3-44, Terry Sparke 2-33, and Tom Scott 1-17. Despite 34 runs from Raglan, and 15 from Scott, Allendale were all out for 74.
However, Raglan said making the final was a fantastic effort for Allendale during their first season in the new league, and said all players should be proud of their efforts.
He added: “Congratulations to Whickham on the win, and thank you to Corbridge Cricket Club for hosting, and producing a dry and hard wicket despite the recent weather.”
Allendale are away to Swalwell II on Saturday.
