MEMBERS of Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School Rowing Club are preparing to do their bit for charity this weekend.

On Saturday, they will row continuously for no less than four hours, at Hexham’s Tyne Green.

It will be part of the club’s charity day, in aid of CLIC Sargent, which works to support young people affected by cancer, and their families.

The day will also include a cake stall and other fund-raising activities.

The rowing challenge will get under way at 10am. People are being encouraged to come along to support and to get involved with the day.

The rowing club are enjoying a busy season so far.

Both Queen Elizabeth High School Rowing Club and Hexham Rowing Club were due to send crews to the Durham Regatta last weekend.

However, the event was cancelled due to the heavy rain which affected much of the weekend’s sporting programme.
