AFTER a tough season, it has been quite a week for Mickley Social Club.
Days after lifting the Craig McDonald Trophy after defeating Crawcrook Fox and Hounds on penalties as the teams tied the final 1-1, the club discovered they wouldn’t be relegated to Division Two despite finishing second bottom.
For Barrasford have voluntarily stepped down a division to prevent the club folding one year short of its 50th anniversary, joining bottom club Haydon Bridge Anchor in going down.
Barrasford finished fifth this campaign, above Crawcrook, Mickley and Haydon Bridge, but will lose players to newcomers Wark, who will start in Division Two alongside fellow new boys Crawcrook Rising Sun.
In the Craig McDonald final, Matty Fothergill scored and Kiel Zurawlew was star man for Mickley. Sam Crossley netted for Crawcrook, who were best served by Ben Coulsoun.
