TYNEDALE got the better of West Tyne rivals Stocksfield in the Northumberland and Tyneside League Division One.

The hosts won by eight wickets at Prior's Flat on Saturday, in a match which was delayed by rain showers, and reduced to 30 overs a-side.

Stocksfield skipper Steven Henderson won the toss and chose to bat first, hoping to exploit a wet outfield.

But Tynedale's strength so far this season has been their bowling attack, and the visitors were all out for 109, with junior Matthew Scott taking 4-33, and skipper Tom Cant 3-17.

Stocksfield's highest scoring batsman was Dan Wylie, who was 46 not out.

Opening the batting for Tynedale, Cant was 73 undefeated, while Oliver Fletcher scored 29, as the home side reached 113-5.
