Tynedale Colts completed a county cup double when they defeated Novos to win the Northumberland County Colts Sevens Cup.

It capped a remarkable season, following on from their success in the 15-a-side county cup last month.

Their performance against opposition from across the county saw Tynedale Colts named Team of the Week.

Joint winners of the award are Bardon Mill Bowes Lyons, who completed a dominant season in the Hexham and District Sunday league with a treble triumph.

They defeated Hexham Phoenix 3-1 on Sunday to lift the President's Cup, with a hat-trick from striker Dan Kirkup.

Flying Dutchman Cees van der Land ran the 37-mile Isaac's Tea Trail, between Allendale and Alston, in 6hrs 40m.

In doing so, the Allendale resident set a new record time for running the trail. He was named Star of the Week

A special mention goes to Tyndale Panthers Maisie James and Holly Thorpe, the young rugby stars who made their debuts for England U18, and the district's young rowers and canoeists who enjoyed a successful weekend on the water.

Acro gymnast Jonny Henderson was part of a male quartet who won the Acro English Championship. The pupil at Hexham's Queen Elizabeth High School also deserves credit for his achievement.
