FOOTBALLERS from the district were on target for a Northumberland FA XI team at U18 level.
Sam Dibb-Fuller, of Prudhoe YC Seniors, and Corbridge’s Will Jenkins, scored in the 4-0 win against a side from Liverpool, in the English Counties Championship.
The match took place after Northumberland, who finished runners-up in the East Division, were drawn to play Liverpool, the winners of the West Division.
East Division winners Durham, defeated West Division runners-up Cheshire, by two goals to nil.
Dibb-Fuller and Jenkins are both set to be involved again when Northumberland take on Durham in the same competition, at Whitley Park, the home of Northumberland FA, at Benton in Newcastle.
The eagerly-awaited match between the neighbouring counties will take place on Tuesday at 7pm.
