A DEPLETED Hexham side finished their league campaign with an uncharacteristic 5-1 defeat at Winlaton Vulcans.
But the sixth-placed Green and Whites went into the game against their opponents, a top three side, with several players unavailable due to injury and work commitments.
Nevertheless, youngster Lewis Furness scored Hexham’s solitary goal, his first senior strike.
Manager Martin Lowes said: “You have to look at the season as a whole and we’ve done well.
“We have a good set of lads who are committed to the cause, and Lewis is one of several promising youngsters at the club.
“We’ve all gained valuable experience throughout the season, and as a club we are in a healthy position both on and off the pitch going into next season.”
While other teams still have games to play, Hexham will finish sixth in the league table with 50 points from their 30 games.
