LOCAL competitors impressed at the Stockton Duathlon to earn call-ups for the Great Britain team at the world championships.
Rosemary Todhunter returned to her best form in winning the F60 category in the standard distance duathlon trial in 2hr 44m, earning automatic selection for the 2020 World Duathlon Championships. Standard distance comprises of a 10km run followed by a 40km bike ride, and a 5km run to finish.
Derek Todhunter staged a remarkable comeback after both achilles tendon surgery and a broken ankle. His resolute performance saw him hold off a large and strong field of rivals to post a time of 1hr 10m in the M60 event.
The time also ensured he secured one of the four automatic selection places in the sprint distance Great Britain duathlon trial - competed over half the standard distance.
Claire Jackson secured an automatic selection in the F55 sprint distance event, after finishing second in her category in a time of 1hr 13m.
Brendon Jackson was placed in a highly competitive M50 field for the standard distance. Recent injuries hampered his performance but he still achieved the qualification standard time, and hopes to earn selection to the GB team for 2020.
All four athletes represent the One Life Triathlon Club and Allen Valley Striders.
