TWO batsmen scored 408 runs between them as Allendale began life in the Northumberland and Tyneside Cricket League by thrashing Stobswood Welfare.
Skipper Tim Raglan scored a career best 260, while 15-year-old Tom Scott marked his debut for Allendale with a superb 148, as Allendale finished on 451-6 in the Division Four encounter.
And if Scott hadn’t already impressed enough, he bowled 7.2 overs, at an outstanding rate of 6-30.
It’s yet to be confirmed if Raglan and Scott have broken any league records, but a delighted Raglan said: “If we had any pre-season nerves, we settled them down today. We didn’t do a great deal in the first few overs, but once we got into our stride, there was no stopping us. Tom was outstanding on his debut.”
