HALTWHISTLE Jubilee strengthened their title credentials with a 3-1 victory at Gosforth Bohemian Reserves in the Tyneside Amateur League on Saturday.

The Jubes created several chances in the first half, but could only manage one goal during the opening 45 minutes, which came courtesy of Dan Parker.

After the interval, Thomas Wilkie scored a superb individual strike to double Haltwhistle’s lead.

Gosforth took advantage of a poorly defended free kick to reduce the deficit, but Jubilee striker Jack Barker finished from close range to seal the victory. Ricky Armstrong was a stand-out performer, but Jack Barker was named man of the match.

Haltwhistle moved ahead of Ponteland United Reserves into top spot, and the Blue and Whites have three games in hand over their rivals.

Ponteland were in cup action at the weekend. They drew 1-1 with Swalwell Juniors in the John Hampson Memorial Trophy.
