YOUNG golfers have been showcasing their skills ahead of the US Masters, which will get under way at Augusta, Georgia, on Thursday.
Almost 200 pupils from 16 of the district’s schools took part in a School Games tri-golf competition at Close House, near Heddon-on-the-Wall. They were challenged to a series of competitions, which tested their putting, chipping, and other skills.
Newbrough Primary School were the overall winners, with the Sele First School, Hexham, in second place, and Hexham First School in third. Newbrough will represent Tynedale in the county finals, in June.
The event was supported by Close House professionals Will Robson and Tim Cockill, and the Golf Foundation.
