WYLAM Rockettes U12 Eagles maintained their title challenge in the Northumberland Girls’ League, with 1-0 win over Heaton Hawks, courtesy of a Millie Armstrong strike.

Wylam Rockettes U14 came from 2-0 down to win their local derby at home against Hexham 4-2. Wylam started very positively and Molly Pigg and Charlotte Graham came close, before Hexham scored two goals.

Grace Owen pulled a goal back for Wylam shortly before half time. After the break, girl of the game Pigg scored twice, the second of which was a memorable solo effort.

Abby Hunter completed Wylam’s scoring with a goal from well outside the 18 yard box.

Wylam Rockettes U16 won 2-1 at home to West Allotment. After hitting the woodwork on several occasions, Wylam won a penalty which Josie Fenwick calmly converted.

Eve Cunliffe extended the lead in the second half, and West Allotment were limited to one late consolation goal, with Annie Jones performing well to prevent them scoring a second.

Wylam Rockettes U18 United lost 3-0 at home to Montagu and North Fenham, although the match was closer than the scoreline suggested.

With the ever combative Emma Rankin starring for United, it was almost half time before Montagu scored their opener. Wylam tired after the break and Montagu took control of the fixture, scoring two more goals.

Wylam Rockettes U18 Real had an off-day against league leaders Cramlington Town, despite a good first half which saw Sophie Rodgers weave her way through the Town defence to score a superb equaliser.

Wylam struggled in the second half and conceded five more goals.
