BARDON Mill Bowes Lyons confirmed the Division One title by narrowly defeating reigning champions Prudhoe Town.

Goals from strikers Rob Hayes and Dan Kirkup, and a man of the match display from Sam Austin, saw them edge Town 2-1 to secure the championship. Town, best served by Ste Forster, hit back as an own goal went their way, but it was too late in the day to spoil Mill’s party celebrations.

Hexham Phoenix secured second spot as they put five past Haltwhistle Railway. Man of the match Lewis Loughhead, Kurtis Harvey, Callum Duncan, Owen Murtough and Dan Burns all registered, with Railway’s goals coming from star man Jack Barker and Billy Rogan.

Division Two title hopefuls Riding Mill booked their place in the final of the divisional cup as they put five without replay past Wylam Black Bull. Scott Douglas, Owen Graham, Dale Dodds and Matty Bloomer scored to go alongside an own goal, while Jamie Peel was named man of the match.

Division Two leaders Heddon St Andrew’s took the opportunity to stretch their lead as they thumped Rose and Crown Bellingham 14-1. Will Hedley scored four and Sean Hownam and Jamie Lishman both scored two, while Elliot Price, Rob Haworth, Dan Ramshaw, Connor Ballantyne, Dan Fleming and Mark Richardson also found the target. Michael Connelly was named star man.

Ryton Michelangelo’s promotion hopes all but disappeared as they lost 4-0 at home to Crawcrook Social Club despite Ritchie Fox impressing. Man of the match Jack Henderson, Reece Hepple, Ash Taylor and David Mitchell scored for Crawcrook.

A late winner from Dean Pattison saw Hexham Hearts shade Hexhamshire 4-3. Kieran Robley scored two and man of the match Owen Hogg the other for Hearts, with Shire replying through a double from Lewis Winter and a single from star man Glen Tweddle.

Two goals from Lee Peacock and one from Josh Turner saw Crawcrook Fox and Hounds defeat Barrasford 3-2 in the semi-finals of the Craig McDonald Trophy. Gary Pigg had put Barra two goals ahead, but Crawcrook, inspired by Joe Meadows, turned the tie on its head. Ben Oliver was named Barrasford’s man of the match.
