RECORD breaking archer Allison Kelly has won the 51st Durham and Northumberland County Indoor Championships.
The Prudhoe woman finished 12 points ahead of defending champion Ellis Jones to lift the title.
And she broke her own county record with a total of 519 points - an 11-point increase on her previous effort.
There was also team success for Allison on the day, for she was part of the Riverside Archers team, based at Thorpe Academy, Ryton, which won the Barebow Team County Championships, alongside David and Tracey Leverett.
“I’m absolutely thrilled,” said Allison. “It was a great day and one where I was on top form.”
Allison’s individual points total counted towards the team score.
She added: “I won this particular individual honour for the first time, and there was the brilliant added bonus of Riverside Archers becoming the second ever winners of the Barebow Team County Championships.
“David and Tracey both did very well on the day and it was great to be part of the winning team.”
The achievements came just weeks after Allison won the Worcester Round Trophy at the Northumberland-based Green Lane Archers, during which she set two other new county records.
It has been a good year for Allison so far. In January, she arrowed her way to her second national title, winning the over 50s category at the British Barebow Indoor Championships.
Last year, she won the National Field Archery Society’s national championships in Plymouth.
The avid archer also lifted the 24th FITA Field County Championships for Northumberland and Durham, at Netherwitton near Morpeth, during a memorable 2018.
