PROLIFIC pro-am golfers Martin Forster and Ritchie Kendrick have won their first event of the year in the Northumberland & Durham Golf Alliance.

Forster, who is both president and club professional at Tynedale Golf Club in Hexham, teamed up with amateur partner Ritchie Kendrick to lift the Willie Waugh Trophy at Sharpley Springs Golf Club near Seaham in County Durham.

In spring-like conditions, the pair dove-tailed perfectly to win with an eight-under par total of 44 stableford points.

The duo have enjoyed no shortage of success in recent years. Last May, they won the Hardy Greenfield Trophy for the sixth time, at Cleveland Golf Club on Teesside.

In August, the 69-year-old Kendrick scored his fifth hole-in-one when he holed his tee-shot at the 150-yard 8th hole at Tynedale Golf Club, where he is a member.

l Stocksfield golfer Chris Paisley was tied 48th in the Qatar Masters, which concluded on Sunday.

Paisley made the halfway cut at the event, and was two under par after four rounds. South Africa’s Justin Harding was the winner on 13-under par.
