MORE than 1,000 people packed out the picturesque Downhills venue near Corbridge for the 61st Tynedale Point-to-Point.

The sun beamed down for the annual event on Sunday, which saw 46 runners compete on a seven race card.

Ben Speke and his wife Ailsa have organised the point-to-point for the past six years, alongside a dedicated sub-committee of the Tynedale Hunt, and with the support of volunteers.

Ben said there was much more to the day than the racing itself.

“This was February, and there were people having picnics,” he said. “Children enjoyed the face painting, the bouncy castle was popular, and it was a fantastic family day out. I’ve never seen the course looking so good, and we were fortunate with the weather again.”
