THE cup glory trail continued for two of the district’s football clubs at the weekend.

Haltwhistle Jubilee defeated Ponteland United Reserves in the quarter-finals of the Tyneside Amateur Challenge Shield.

The Jubes ran out 2-0 winners in a hard fought game at the Burn, with goals from skipper Mark Robson, and striker Jack Barker in the final 20 minutes.

Scott Jacobson was man of the match for the Blue and Whites, but manager Cameron Bell praised the efforts of all his players.

Haltwhistle will return to league action this weekend, when they entertain West Jesmond in the Tyneside Amateur League.

Second placed Haltwhistle will be looking to maintain their title challenge against the Newcastle side, who are currently in fifth place.

Prudhoe YC Seniors booked their place in the final of the Team Valley Carpets Combination Cup, with a 5-1 victory over Seaton Burn. They will contest the final against Cullercoats at Birtley, on Thursday April 25.

Prudhoe won promotion from Northern Alliance Division Two last season, and also won their divisional cup.

They have adjusted to life in Division One impressively this term, and will host Newcastle East End in the league on Saturday.
