LOCAL athletes took on a long-distance challenge at the Runners of the Ark event in Durham last weekend.
Seven members of the Jog on the Tyne Group ran multiple loops of the 3.28-mile course, with two of them clocking up half marathon distances, and three achieving 16 miles.
Rachel Wyse and Fiona Belgian managed to reach remarkable distances of 50km. They were the first females over the line, and finished second overall.
The runners' collective efforts and achivements saw them named team of the week.
Morgan Passman scored his second successive hat-trick as Tynedale defeated Yorkshire side Otley in rugby's National League Division Two North.
The powerful young winger's contribution to the 25-22 victory saw him named star of the week.
