A WEEK after booking their place in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup semi-finals for the second successive year, Haltwhistle Jubilee returned to league action on Saturday.
They travelled to Wallsend Boys Club Senior Development in the Tyneside Amateur League, and came away with a 2-0 victory.
Goals either side of half time from Kieran Robley and Jack Barker were enough for the Jubes to take all three points.
Haltwhistle goalkeeper Kieran Macmillan made vital saves when called upon, and was named the side’s man of the match.
Manager Cameron Bell said the scoreline could have been better for Haltwhistle, if they had made better decisions in the final third, and not missed a penalty.
He added: “We were solid and the work rate was good. Man of the match went to Macmillan in goal despite the fact he was a spectator for the majority of the game.”
Haltwhistle remain second in the league table with 34 points from 13 games.
They are four points behind leaders Ponteland United Reserves, but have four games in hand over their rivals for the league title.
