THERE was no shortage of league and cup action in the Hexham and District Sunday League.

Bardon Mill got the better of title rivals Hexham Phoenix with an emphatic away victory in Division One.

Man of the match Ollie Cartwright scored twice for the Millers, who also had Dan Kirkup and Sam Austin on target in a 4-0 rout. George Ridley was the star man for Hexham.

In Division Two, Riding Mill hit Heddon St Andrews for six, with Dale Dodds and Scott Douglas both scoring a brace.

Paul Britten and man of the match Dale Graham were also on target in the 6-1 victory.

Dan Walker scored Heddon’s solitary goal, while Lewis Trevithick was star man for the visitors.

In the John Pickworth Cup, second division side Ponteland Village edged out Division One Barrasford by the odd goal in five.

Jordan O’Neill scored twice for Ponteland, while man of the match Dan Brookwell also found the net for the hosts.

Barrasford had their star man Marc Nixon to thank for both of their goals.

In the R&R Hands Mick Simmons Trophy, Prudhoe Town were 2-1 winners over Hexhamshire. Sam Mannion and Adrian Sutcliffe registered, while Brad Rogers was named star man. Josh Dodwell was the scorer for the ‘Shire, while Martin Havery was man of the match.

Hexham Hearts progressed in the same competition, with a 2-1 victory over Ryton Michelangelo’s, thanks to a brace from Nathan Kirk, and a man of the match performance from Matty Herdman.

Crawcrook social defeated Division One side Haltwhistle Railway 3-1, with Ross Thompson, Jack Henderson, and David Mitchell getting on the scoresheet.

Mark Storey replied for Haltwhistle, whose star man was Jack Barker.

Mickley Social were 3-1 winners away to Haydon Bridge United in the Craig McDonald Memorial.

Conor Robertson, Stephen Gray, and Michael Gilroy all found the net for the visitors, while Stefan Rainbow was man of the match.

Glen Tweddle replied for Haydon Bridge, whose star man was Tom Anderson.
