PRUDHOE Eagles FC enjoyed success in a recent five-a-side competition at Hexham’s Wentworth Leisure Centre.
They were the U8 winners at the Tynedale Mini Soccer League’s annual tournament, with Corbridge runners-up.
Prudhoe Eagles entered two teams in the competition, with the other playing under the name Prudhoe Youth.
Manager Adam Sempers said: “It was a great day for us. We entered two teams and were probably underdogs, so to come away with a trophy was fantastic for all involved.
“Trevor Hutchinson and Mick Brown took charge of the Eagles, while I looked after Prudhoe Youth.
“It was an excellent tournament, played in good spirit, and we saw a lot of impressive football being played.”
Adam, whose son Oscar played for Prudhoe Youth on the day, said a focus on enjoyment was vital in junior football.
He added: “We like to keep the ball down and play good football.
“At U8 level, it’s about learning the game and also having fun.”
