In the Northern Alliance Premier Division, Ponteland United were held to a 2-2 draw at North Shields Athletic, despite leading 2-0 after 60 minutes.
Teenager Louis Calvert scored on his debut after 30 minutes to give Pont the lead. Following a goalmouth scramble, the striker was on hand to fire home.
The 16-year-old was deputising for regular striker Gary Cook, whose season has been hampered with injuries.
Ponteland were looking the better side, but without really dominating the game.
However, they doubled their advantage on the hour mark, thanks to a thunderbolt strike from Henry Rawlinson.
The regular left-back played in midfield, and launched a firm left footed strike into the top corner from 20-yards.
But North Shields refused to give in, and pulled a goal back on 65 minutes, before adding another five minutes later.
Ponteland United club secretary Alan Birkinshaw said: “It was a very windy day and credit to North Shields for the way they came back. Our lads took their goals well.”
