TYNESIDE Amateur League side Haltwhistle Jubilee have endured their fair share of postponements this winter.
Some of those have been due to the unavailability of match officials, but a frozen pitch led to the Jubes’ Tynedale Amateur Shield quarter-final against Ponteland United Reserves, on January 19, called off.
Manager Cameron Bell cut a frustrated figure, but accepted that icy goalmouths made the pitch too dangerous for play.
But does that mean he would be in favour of Haltwhistle and their rivals locking horns on an artificial surface?
“Some clubs have them,” he said. “But I have to say I don’t really like artificial pitches.
“We have a recently resurfaced pitch at Haltwhistle and I like to see the game played on grass.”
