STOCKSFIELD golfer Chris Paisley fired himself into contention at the Saudi International event in Saudi Arabia.
The 32-year-old shot a superb four-under par opening round of 66 to leave himself just four strokes behind overnight leader Thomas Pieters.
Paisley made an impressive start to his second round on Friday morning, and was three-under from his first five holes to reach -7 for the tournament.
Lee Westwood, who represents Close House near Heddon-on-the-Wall as touring professional, opened with a one-under-par round of 69.
