TYNEDALE Mini Soccer League hosted its annual five-a-side tournament over three consecutive Sundays at Hexham’s Wentworth Leisure Centre.
The competiton for U9 and U10 teams saw Wark Forest remain unbeaten as they won Division A, on goal difference from second placed Hexham Unicorns.
Haydon Bridge U10 were top of Division B, with Kingston Park Honey Badgers second.
In the semi finals, Wark Forest defeated Kingston Park 3-1, while Haydon Bridge U10 lost to Hexham Unicorns 2-1.
The two losing semi-finalists contested the President’s Plate final, with Haydon Bridge U10 defeating Kingston Park 3-1.
Daniel Alderson scored twice for Haydon Bridge, with Kieron Edwards also on target. Will Simmons scored Kingston Park’s consolation.
Wark Forest beat Hexham Unicorns 3-0, to win the Richard ‘PC’ Nixon Memorial Cup Final. There was a brace for Harry Crocker, while Dan McLaughlin scored one. Organisers thanked Wentworth staff for hosting the event. Find out how the U7 and U8 teams fared in next week’s Hexham Courant.
