WYLAM Rockettes U12 Falcons enjoyed a 4-0 win over Hexham in the Northumberland Girls’ League.

With Ruby Roberts and Lauren Leech in superb form at the back, Isla Dalby opened the scoring for the Falcons.

Girl of the game Rosie Pigg then twice teed up goals for Freya Neal, before Shinade Creighton added the Falcons’ fourth to take the points from their Tyne Valley rivals, and consolidate second place in the league.

There was heartache for Wylam Rockettes U18 United who lost their Northumberland Girls League Cup semi final 2-0 away to Cramlington Town.

In a closely contested encounter, a very determined United team matched U18 league leaders Cramlington during the first half, which ended goalless.

Despite Wylam’s girl of the game Bethan Newman giving the Cramlington defence a difficult time, United’s hopes were eventually dashed as the hosts scored twice in the last 20 minutes to book their place in the final.

Wylam Rockettes U14 lost 5-1 away against to Wallsend in a league fixture against a team which had won all their games so far this season.

Girl of the game Katie Smith made a number of outstanding saves throughout the match. Her goalkeeping, together with some very resolute defending, meant that the Rockettes were only 1-0 down and still in the game at half time.

Wallsend scored early in the second half but Charlotte Graham jinked through the Wallsend defence to pull the score back to 2-1. However the last quarter went against the Rockettes.
