THREE former Tynedale rugby players have been named in Scotland's squad for the Six Nations Championship.

The currently uncapped Dave Cherry, who played 27 times for Tynedale's first XV between 2011 and 2013, and now plays for Edinburgh, has been selected.

He is joined in the Scotland squad by Tim Swinson. The Glasgow Warriors lock, who has 38 caps to his name, played for Tynedale 24 times between 2006 and 2008.

Chris Harris, who was a Tynedale player from 2011 to 2014, making 47 appearances for the Corbridge-based club, will also have the opportunity to add to his six previous Scotland caps.

A statement on the Tynedale Rugby Club website congratulated the three players on their selection.
