NOW that a new year of sporting action is under way, the Courant's popular Team of the Week and Star of the Week features have made a return.
Bardon Mill Bowes Lyons continued their title charge in the Hexham and District Sunday League with a 4-1 win over defending champions Prudhoe Town.
The victory, which maintained their 100 per cent league record, saw them named 2019's first Team of the Week.
The golden boot of Rob Parker helped Tynedale secure a vital 40-24 win over Stourbridge in rugby's National League Division Two North last Saturday.
Fly-half Parker enjoyed a 100 per cent success rate from the tee, with three conversions and four penalties, earning him 2019's first Star of the Week.
