KURTIS Harvey helped himself to a hat-trick as Hexham ran riot against Newcastle East End.

Saturday’s victory saw the hosts move up to eighth position in the Northern Alliance Division One.

Harvey struck after just 12 minutes, heading home a fine cross from Dylan Mabunu.

Neil McDonald doubled Hexham’s advantage when he rounded the goalkeeper before finishing from a tight angle.

Harvey bagged his second shortly before half time, side-footing the ball home after a good team move.

The hat-trick goal came when Harvey fired through a crowd of players to make it 4-0.

Will Forsyth scored the goal of the game after receiving the ball inside his own half.

Manager Martin Lowes said: “Will was at least 50 yards out, and in the centre circle.

“He looked up and saw the goalkeeper off his line, and lifted the ball over him. It bounced in the six-yard box and into the empty net.

“It was similar to what David Beckham did against Wimbledon all those years ago.”

Robbie Patterson made it 6-0 with a low shot to the keeper’s right.
