STUNT rider Scott Philipson has found a new motorsport after joining a national display team.

The Hexhamshire man, who now lives in Haydon Bridge, is best known for his skills on two wheels, and he competed in the Scottish Stunt Championship back in March.

But the 29-year-old is now getting to grips with quad bikes and even monster trucks, after teaming up with Scott May’s Daredevil Stunt Show, based in Penzance.

“It’s a touring show and I signed up initially as a van driver,” he said, “but after seeing what I could do on a two-wheeled bike, I was asked to have a go at the quad bikes used in the live shows.

“Since June I’ve taken part in various shows, from Scotland to South Wales, and it’s been a great experience.”

Scott now combines his tours, which usually take him away from home for three weeks, with his day job as a self-employed carpet fitter.

He added: “It’s hard work on tour, because all the time we’re on the road I’m driving the van, and I also do a bit of wheel fitting on the monster trucks. It’s just a great experience to be involved with the industry.”

Scott’s next big show will be in November, when he will be part of Scott May’s team in a spectacular Fireworks bike display tour.
